  1. I watched the game live on TV in 1966 and I was jubilant when the referee gave the goal to England. But if I'm absolutely honest, I had severe doubts and now I'm absolutely convinced that the ball did not cross the line.

  2. A few years ago a team of German 3D boffins found that the ball had landed on the six-yard line. A team of French experts shrugged their shoulders and said they weren't sure either way. The Italian experts ran away.

  3. Isn't it sad that we still talk about this? There are two countries that have won the WC (in 22 possible occasions) once only, Spain and England, which reflects on the probability for the future…. Interestingly, all the teams that lost in the finals have also been there more than once, except for Sweden and Croatia and does not include England in its inestimable company! So what speaks loudest of all is the fact that England has not been able to repeat getting to the final since 1966, when it played at home! Can't get more damning than that!

  4. The question is not if the ball was over the line or not, but how could the linesman be sure it was from his perspective? He could not be, he must have had his reasons for stepping in and changing football history, giving England their only title to this day.

  5. There was no way they would let Germany win this one. Even the ref initially ruled it out and after he consulted with Bahramov the faking began. People around the globe have seen thousands of pictures in the various magazines that indicate it was no goal. With current technology and VAR you can manufacture your goals on demand.
