Bulgaria have been ordered to play two matches behind closed doors – one suspended for two years – for their fans’ racist abuse of England players in a Euro 2020 qualifier. ESPN FC’s Shaka Hislop slams the punishment as “paltry” and says it just shows a “lack of spine” for a very serious issue. Hislop gives a thorough alternative to the situation emphasizing the importance of education for fans around Europe who engage in such behavior.

Shut up Shaka Zulu.
What would happen to my white team in Mali or Senegal?
…………NUKE BULGARIA. The Queen approves…..
Set price to 1m. They are big companies not small timers
And these guys said Xhaka has thin skin!
UEFA it self is a RACIST organization. What do you expect ?!!?
Are we surprised anymore if the FA and Premier League are spineless in dealing with racism then no point in pointing the finger elsewhere
not even a slap on the wrist
Still stronger action than the FA
500,000 still seems lowball to me Shaka – Make that fine 7.5 million euros and we're talking….Then you can reduce the fine to 1.25mil with the rest deferred so long as they put 1.25mil into your suggestions.
There were 20,000 people in the stadium.10 people were making provocations. How big is the fine? 50 million?
When a bunch of supporters start abusing players with foul language that is not include their skin colour, why does nobody care? Nobody tried to ban the fans at Arsenal on the weekend.
We just have to say it as it is. It's just another example of football's racists sympathizing with each other.
As a nation we should boycott the next euro qaulifer in order to stop racism. If it's the only way it's the only way
Football could be a leader in tackling these issues, but, in the end, they are too scared to lose any money to do anything significant about it. Of course, it's not just FIFA/UEFA. Other sports leagues have been spineless with this issue, too. Like the total cowardly way that the NFL treated Kaepernick and the racist issues in the US. But, Football is actually worldwide and the world's most popular sport, so they SHOULD be the ones taking a stronger stance. But their money is more important.
yeah like a number of fans in england are not racists. it should start from the biggest league in the world. and rather than just talking about it show what they have done to combat it.
I still believe the black players should have walked off. This 3 step process is nonsense. In no other walk of life would a person be racially abused at work and have to tolerate it 3 times before they could withdraw their labour.
The biggest impact will happen when the players people want to see walk off.
We were called the biggest racist in europe cause of 30 fans. And england was provoking and manipulating the whole situation a week before the match, crying wankers.
If Bulgaria were to get banned England should get banned too for their hooliganism.
What do they want uefa to do they can't punish Bulgaria because of some fans people are saying Bulgaria should be kicked out of tournaments which is a fucking joke
