LEGENDARY MATCH | JAPAN vs FRANCE | Men’s World Championship 2022. A crazy round of 16. Pushed to its limits by a sometimes overexcited Japanese team, the French team managed to escape a situation that had been compromised for a while to reach the quarterfinals.
The French volleyball team experienced a range of emotions during this Round of 16 match at the World Cup, but they ultimately won in five sets (25-17, 21-25, 26-24, 22-25, 18-16) against a Japanese team that shook up the Olympic champions. After a well-crafted first set, the French team suffered under attacks from Ran Takashi (11 points), Yuji Nishida (31 points), and Yuki Ishikawa (22 points). Pushed back and forth from the start of the fifth set, Les Bleus were on the brink of victory when Japan earned a match point, but the Tricolores’ experience paid off. Thanks to the success of Nicolas Le Goff and Earvin Ngapeth on the final points of the match, France has validated its ticket to the quarter-finals of this 2022 World Volleyball Championship.
