This Match Yuji Nishida & Simeon Nikolov Will Never Forget !!! In the 2023 Volleyball Nations League (VNL), Japan’s men’s national team secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Bulgaria in Nagoya, with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 26-24 .

The match was held on June 10, 2023, during the first week of the tournament . Captain Yuki Ishikawa led Japan’s offense with 17 points, supported by Yuji Nishida and Ran Takahashi, who contributed 12 and 10 points respectively .

Despite Bulgaria’s efforts, including a notable 13-point performance by Aleksandar Nikolov, they were unable to overcome Japan’s solid defense and consistent play . This win marked Japan’s third consecutive victory in the tournament, propelling them to the top of the VNL standings at that point . The home crowd in Nagoya provided enthusiastic support, creating an electrifying atmosphere that energized the Japanese team.

Bulgaria, on the other hand, faced challenges throughout the match and concluded the week with one win and three losses . The match highlighted Japan’s growing prowess in international volleyball and set a positive tone for their subsequent games in the tournament. Both teams looked ahead to their upcoming matches, aiming to build on their performances. The encounter in Nagoya was a testament to the competitive spirit and high level of play characteristic of the VNL.

Yuji Nishida (西田 有志, Nishida Yūji, born 30 January 2000) is a Japanese left-handed volleyball player. As of July 2024, Nishida plays for Panasonic Panthers at club level.

Nishida made his debut with JTEKT Stings at V.League on 6 January 2018 in a match against Sakai’s Osaka Blazers Sakai. His impressive debut at the young age of 17 soon earned him a position in JTEKT’s starting six,[5] as well as on Japan men’s national volleyball team. Nishida led the national team to seventh place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, its best result in 29 years.

Simeon Vladimirov Nikolov , Bulgarian Симеон Владимиров Николов (born November 24, 2006 in Sofia ) – Bulgarian volleyball player , playing as a setter , representative of the country .

His father is Vladimir Nikolov , one of the most successful representatives of Bulgaria.

His mother’s name is Maja and he has 2 brothers: older Aleksander , a volleyball player playing as a receiver in the Italian club Cucine Lube Civitanova , and younger Filip.

In September 2023, he received a call-up from the coach of the senior Bulgarian national team Plamen Konstantinov for the intercontinental qualifying tournament for the 2024 Summer Olympics , being just under 17 years old.
