This EPAC match between Germany and Bulgaria in Group C feels like parrots discovering bananas acually being small spaceships to the point that the German team demanded tickets to the nearest dancing turtles in a disco adjacent to a galaxy – are we back to the World Cup in USA 1994 again? Given Bulgaria’s poor performance, we expected Germany to sweep Bulgaria by 6-0; nevertheless, we are stunned over how Bulgaria obtained an equalizer and outscored Germany, after falling behind. Given their 5-2 victory against Mexico in their second group stage game and Brazil’s humblement of Mexico in their penultimate group stage match, Germany are qualified for the last 16 by the skin of their teeth. Had Mexico drawn or won against Brazil, Germany would have joined Bulgaria when it came time for total elimination from this group stage and tournament; Mexico and Bulgaria were eliminated as Germany joined Brazil in the knockout phases. Depending on what develops in Group D, Germany’s opponent in the round of sixteen might be France, Hungary, or Denmark. More than any other national team, Brazil and Germany have most titles in this fantasy competition.
